Steven Gerrard has officially been sacked as manager of Aston Villa Football Club after just 11 months in charge.
The Liverpool legend had been on the verge of being replaced for quite some time and Thursday’s 3-0 loss away at Fulham was the final nail in his coffin.
Villa was second-best for pretty much the entire match at Craven Cottage, with Douglas Luiz’s red card not exactly helping matters.
Harrison Reed put Fulham ahead in the first half with an absolute rocket, before a penalty from Aleksandar Mitrovic following a debatable handball by Matty Cash put the hosts in cruise control.
An own goal from Tyrone Mings – who Gerrard boldly demoted as club captain at the start of the campaign – sealed Villa’s fate.
