Invest in people, prioritize Education ~ Barr. Ukaobasi to Stakeholders

An expert has called on individuals, civil society, and policymakers to take solid steps toward ensuring that primary, secondary and tertiary education is given good attention as the world evolves with technology.

The advice is coming as the world marks 2023 International Education day.

International Day of Education is celebrated globally on the 24th of January to shed light on the vital role of education. The day is envisioned to promote gender equality, social inclusion, and poverty eradication through quality education and democratic participation as Education is an investment that holds the power to transform the present into a sustainable future.
The theme of this year’s event is “invest in people, prioritize
education ”.

In an interview with the Executive Director of Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation foundation, Agbonma Jennifer Ukaobasi Esq frowned at the condition of education in Abia state and Nigeria at large and called on stakeholders to rise to the occasion and restore the dignity of education.

She charged the government at all levels to take the welfare of teachers seriously, hence the payment of salaries and allowances must be giving good attention to motivate teachers to put in their best.

She maintained that government should collaborate with relevant stakeholders to give quality attention to the training and retraining of teachers which will help in producing good leaders that will reposition the country stressing that the International Day of Education is a call for action bringing individuals, civil society, and policymakers to take solid steps towards ensuring that primary, secondary and tertiary education is given good attention as the world evolves with technology.
