Chief Sir Okechukwu Ambrose Ahiwe has emerged winner in the just concluded Abia State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) primary re-run election conducted on February 4, 2023.
Chief Ahiwe, the Chief of staff to the Abia State Governor had a total of 469 votes ahead of other contestants.
The re-run election was conducted at the Umuahia township stadium in the capital of Abia state.
The results were declared by governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, the Chairman of the PDP special electoral committee for a fresh gubernatorial election in Abia state.
Rt Hon Ude Okochukwu, the deputy governor of Abia state also participated in the re-run election and scored 12 votes, Lucky Igbokwe also had 12 votes, Dr. Sampson Orji scored 11 votes, Senator Emma Nwaka havotesvote, and 12 invalid votes were recorded.
However, there was some steed exercise before the opening of the election that swayed the wave in Favour of the PDP candidate when some hopefuls: Eric Opa, Bob Ogu, and Ezinwayi Jonah walked down for Okey Ahiaiwe.
The rerun primary election follows the death of Uchenna Ikonne, the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
