Our lives are shaped by the views we hold. Our lives tow the line of our mindset. You will live out whatever you believe to be true. These and more, are the reasons why everyone will need to answer this all important question. “Who do you say I am?
Who do you say I am? The question is a revelation of identity and authority because it is in knowing who He is that we can now know who we are. In knowing who He is, we will understand His power and the authority backing us. In knowing who He is, we can have confidence in the authority He bestows on us. It is in knowing Him that we can put the devil where he belongs. In knowing Jesus, we can understand the limitations of the devil. In knowing Jesus, we understand what God can do. The journey of understanding the believer starts with knowing God. You really cannot know a believer until you know God. Apostle John puts it this way in 1John 3 Vs 1…
Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. (KJV). The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him (NIV).
You cannot know the believer until you know God. The believer cannot understand the kind of person he is and the kind of power he wields until he knows God. Jesus wanted to bring His disciples to the point of knowing who He is beyond the familiarity occasioned by proximity. Until they know who He is they will not have clear understanding of what sort of disciples they are.
A lot of us make the mistake of stating our self discovery journey from struggling to know ourselves. That’s wrong. The believer is created in God’s image and true holiness. Ephesians 4 Vs 24
Beloved, before you introduce yourself to your future, take sometime to regurgitate on your view of God. I just hope what you know of God is not just what your culture, environment or mere human experience handed down to you.
Knowing Him opens you up to you. Selah.
PRAYER
▶️ Father I thank you for making me a new creature.
▶️ I am your workmanship, I am ordained to good works.
▶️My body is quickened, there is no weakness in me.
▶️ I Walk in God’s timing for my life.
▶️ I conduct my affairs according to who God had made me in Christ.
