A Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Abia State has reacted to the killing of a Staff of De Choice Eatery, Umuahia, Izuchukwu Mbakwe by a trigger happy Vigilante attached to Abia State Vigilante over a missing “NOKIA TORCH” PHONE, calling on The Abia State Government to ensure that justice is served to the culprit.
Social media has been kept agog with the news of the killing of a youth Izuchukwu Mbakwe with Social media users calling on the Abia State Government not to sweep the matter under the carpet.
Reacting to the ugly incident in a release made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Tuesday, The Executive Director, of Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation Foundation, Agbonma Jennifer Ukaobasi Esq, decried that the killing of young people in Nigeria has become a recurring decimal and has also remained unabated.
She stated that the killing of Izuchukwu Mbakwe over the alleged missing “NOKIA TORCH, has further shown how uncivilized those who ensure the security of life and property treat the ordinary citizens with reckless abandon, saying that this situation will escalate if nothing is done urgently to avert future occurrence.
Barrister Ukaobasi called on the Management of De Choice Eatery, Umuahia to ensure that every bit of information needed in unraveling the truth behind the killing of Izuchukwu Mbakwe by a trigger-happy Vigilante attached to Abia State Vigilante is exposed while proper punishment is meted to the culprit to serve as a deterrent to others, stressing that the same vigilante gunned down a resident of Egwunaeleke last year.
She also called on the Abia State Government, and Abia Commissioner of Police, to ensure that this matter is properly investigated while applying the various laws applicable in prosecuting the trigger-happy vigilante member.
