Kano High Court Ruling Baseless and Misleading- Ferdinand Ekeoma

The Special Adviser Media and publicity to Abia State Governor-Elect Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma has assured the good people of Abians to ignore the purported and misleading Judgement nullifying the candidatures of the Labour Party in Abia.

Ekeoma stated this in a press statement read out to newsmen at the Alex Otti campaign office in Umuahia on 19th May 2023.

According to the statement, Ekeoma stated that for the records to be streamlined, and for Abians to be reassured following their jubilation upon the declaration of Otti as Governor-elect, said that the Federal High Court in Kano did not serve any court order on Abia Labour Party Candidates nor the Governor-Elect, Dr. Alex Otti.

“To that effect, the court specifically stated in clause 9 of the judgment that the candidates that participated in the election in Abia State are not parties before this court and as such the court lacks the jurisdiction to make an order for the issuance of certificate of return to them”

It could be recalled that the Federal High Court in Abia state had earlier adjudicated on a similar case as pre-election matters involving some PDP candidates and Labour Party Candidates and the matter was decided at the supreme court.

He however noted that the case brought by the petitioner is a pre-election matter and under section 285(14)(a) of the Electoral Act the petitioners have no locus standi as they were not aspirants in the Labour party.

Again, section 285 (9), requires that it must be filed within 14 days of the occurrence of the event. In other words, the suit should have been filed before the end of June 2022. But on the contrary the suit was filed on 11th May 2023 and judgement delivered after 7 days.

It is therefore noted that the nationally celebrated mandate given to Dr Alex Otti by the people of Abia State can not be stolen by the strange usurper who are pained and frightened by the reality of their imminent exit from power in the next few days.

The Special adviser, Ekeoma however assured that Dr. Alex Otti will be sworn in as Governor of the state come 29th May adding that Abians should ignore the FAKE REPORT claiming that he has been sacked by a High Court in Kano.
