The President of Vision Africa, Bishop Sunday Onuoha has expressed deep concern over the escalating security challenges in the country.

Bishop Onuoha in a statement made available to the press on Wednesday said the continuous incidents of kidnappings and killings across the country have reached an alarming level, causing distress and fear amongst the citizens despite assurances from the federal government to tackle insecurity in the country, the security situation seems to persist with minimal tangible action.

According to the statement, the Methodist Bishop urged the government to reevaluate its approach to combating insecurity in the country because according to him, the current narrative of merely advising against revenge without substantial arrests and prosecutions is causing disillusionment among the populace.

He advised the government to demonstrate a robust commitment to justice and the protection of citizens and implore the government to consider alternative strategies, including seeking public input and collaboration, to effectively address the security challenges.

Bishop Onuoha further stated that since the current measures are inadequate, it may be worthwhile to explore partnerships with local communities and empower citizens to defend themselves within legal frameworks.

He also drew the attention of the government to the fact that the international community is watching, and potential investors are assessing the stability of the nation. Stating that It is crucial for the government to not only acknowledge the severity of the situation but also take decisive and transparent actions to restore confidence in the country’s security.
