Distillers Protest Sachet Alcohol Ban At NAFDAC Office

Distillers and Blenders association of Nigeria comprising of different unions, has taken their protest to the National agency for food and drug administration and control NAFDAC, office in Lagos to register their grievances against the ban of sachet alcoholic beverages. The organizers said the ban, among other things is totally against the drive to promote the buying of Nigerian products.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Mr Anthony Oyacha who stated that over eight hundred billion naira has been invested in the various companies. He pointed out that there are no indices to put to the table to back up the saying that children are drinking alcohol.

Also speaking, Mr Friday izeagba said with the ban, NAFDAC wants to increase the crime in the country because those laid off from their jobs will look for other means of livelihood.

A representative from the agency, Mrs Rametu Momodu, appealed to the protesters that their grievances and thought regarding the ban are being considered by the agency.
