The Rivers State Police Command says operatives of the command have arrested five suspected kidnappers and cultists.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement named the suspects as Aliyu Usman, Sule Abubakar, Abdullahi Adamu and Mallam Yahaya. She said an investigation revealed that the suspects are part of a criminal network operating under the guise of herders and have been involved in a series of kidnappings across Rivers, Delta, and Edo states.
She added that the suspects were arrested following the disappearance of four staff members of a real estate company during a routine property inspection in Okocha Community, Igbo-Etche, Etche Local Government Area, in January 2024.
She also said the suspects collected community land for their operations under the pretence of protecting the land from land grabbers.
