NEWSCourt grants substituted service for Amaewhule-led lawmakers

A Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt has granted a motion filed by the constituents of the Martin Amaewhule led lawmakers to serve them through substituted service.

The Presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Obile granted the order after the constituents cited challenges in serving the lawmakers with the court documents.

Recall that the constituents went to Court to seek interpretation of section 109 sub-section 1 of the 1999 Constitution as amended on the defection of elected lawmakers from the political party on whose platform they were elected into office. They also want the Court to order INEC to conduct fresh elections into the various state constituency seats of the affected lawmakers. The matter was adjourned to May 16th for a hearing.
