RIVERS STATE APC TASKED THE FEDERAL ROAD SAFETY CORPS TO ENSURE FREE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON ELEME ROAD

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called on the Federal Road Safety Corps to be more proactive with measures to ensure the free flow of traffic on the busy Eleme axis of the East-West Road, Port Harcourt, the state capital.

While noting that the recent tanker explosion which claimed lives and destroyed several cars was avoidable, the party said due to the heavy traffic experienced daily on that road, the FRSC and the Eleme Local Government authorities should collaborate to check the double parking of trucks.

The State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, made the call during a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Okocha added that President Bola Tinubu, as a compassionate person, had wished that the carnage never happened, even as he condoled with the families of those who lost dear loved ones and other victims who lost properties in the explosion.
