Senate President Godswill Akpabio has advised renowned Afrobeat artist Davido to avoid getting involved in politics. This advice came during Davido’s courtesy visit to Abuja on Monday.
Akpabio welcomed Davido warmly, praising him for his contributions to Nigeria’s global reputation. “For me and President Bola Tinubu’s administration, it’s all about inclusivity. You’ve seen from my actions that we transcend party lines,” Akpabio stated.
He continued, “Despite your administration being under the PDP, our shared interest is the well-being of this country, which has shown you immense love. Nigeria’s population is unmatched in Africa, with over 240 million people. I urge you to continue being an outstanding ambassador for our nation. Focus on excelling in the entertainment industry and don’t let anyone pull you into politics.”
Akpabio emphasized the political sector’s appreciation for talent, promising support for the entertainment industry and talented individuals like Davido. “We need patience and prayers to succeed,” he concluded.
During the visit, Davido shared his ongoing efforts to give back to society. “I am committed to assisting society through my foundation, which donates N300 to N400 million to orphanages annually. I also have a new album coming out in June or July this year. Thank you for all your support,” Davido said.
Davido was accompanied by his cousins, Tunji Adeleke, son of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and Folasade Adeleke, daughter of the Osun State Governor.
