A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the 2023 candidate of Aba North and South Federal Constituency, Promise Iheasimuo has commended residents of Aba North and South Local Government Area of Abia State for not participating in the ongoing hunger protest.
This is even as he thanked the people of Aba for their unwavering commitment to a peaceful and united Nigeria.
The APC chieftain who hailed the resilience and courage that youths of Aba North and South displayed despite all the antics and attempts by some group of persons to lure them to join the protest, said the people by such acts have shown that they do not want to engage in acts that will cause a breach of the peace or lead to the shedding of innocent blood in the commercial city and the state at large.
Iheasimuo who was addressing journalists in Aba, on Saturday, on the heels of the ongoing nationwide hunger protest, called on Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu whom he said has good intentions for the state, the Southeast, and the country at large.
The APC chieftain who thanked President Tinubu for signing the Southeast Development Commission Bill into law, noted that the establishment and adequate funding of the commission would help to address some of the challenges that led to agitations in some quarters of the southeast, including the rising insecurity in the region.
Iheasimuo who urged the youths to channel their energy into useful resources and to also engage in constructive dialogue, advocate for reforms, and hold their representatives in government accountable said “I want to deeply appreciate Ndi Aba for their unwavering commitment to a peaceful Nigeria.
