Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has announced the dissolution of the Interim Management Committees (IMCs) overseeing all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. The decision, which takes immediate effect, was made during a farewell meeting with the IMC members at the Government House.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, it was clarified that the dissolution marks the conclusion of the IMCs’ six-month tenure. These committees played a vital role in assisting the state government in implementing grassroots policies and programs.
Governor Yusuf expressed his appreciation for the IMCs’ dedication and contributions. He assured the outgoing members that their expertise would continue to be valued and that they would be involved in future initiatives.
To ensure continuity of governance until the upcoming local government elections on October 26, 2024, Governor Yusuf has appointed the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) of each LGA as interim overseers. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in their roles.
The dissolution of the IMCs paves the way for the election of new local government officials, who will be responsible for overseeing the affairs of their respective LGAs.
